My fountain-pen inks work beautifully on this paper, despite the pearl finish that defeats our laser printer.
On these cards I used Diamine fountain-pen ink in colour Aurora Borealis. Diamine Aurora Borealis is a particular favourite of mine and happily matched the outer card well. I particularly like the shading properties of this ink with many pens on many papers. On some papers and with some pens, this ink shades from green to red. On this paper, it shades from green to black, which still gives character to the writing.Diamine is a British company based in Liverpool. If you are interested in buying their inks, I recommend that you check out their website, which sells them at very reasonable prices -- see: www.diamineinks.co.uk
The pen I used was an Italix Freshman's Notator with a Medium Italic nib. I bought this pen from Mr Pen -- www.mrpen.co.uk
As a long-time user of Italic nibs I miss being able to replace my now-vintage italic pens. My old Osmiroid pens have seen better days, but I've managed to install a new Schmidt converter into one of them, so that one is still in fairly regular use. I've searched and found it impossible these days to find such a crisp italic line-width variation in a modern nib. However, Mr Pen do produce a reasonable alternative and have saved me from hammering my vintage pens to death! The Italix brand is their own brand and they specialise in grinding their nibs to give a good writing experience. Each nib grind is a little different. The nib I've used here is a Medium Italic nib but it is ground a little wider so that it's pretty much a Broad Italic. I find this pen very good to write with -- the nib gives a smoother writing experience than my old pens and I'm very happy with the weight and size of the pen itself.
I could go on and on about pens and inks, but I won't!
