International Music Score Library Project [IMSLP] entry: C. P. E. Bach
Emanuel Bach [1714-1788] was the fifth child and second surviving son of J. S. Bach. In his lifetime, he was more celebrated than his father. He marks the transition between the baroque and classical eras, and emphasised the `sensitive' style as opposed to the `galant'.

| Solfeggietto in C minor, composed in 1766, is easily Bach's best-known piece today. It takes the form of a short `study' for keyboard, and is often learned by young pianists. It is for keyboard, so can reasonably be played on the piano, fortepiano or harpsichord. I have sequenced it for harpsichord from a copy in my collection. | |||
