Samuel Coleridge-Taylor (1875-1912) was a British composer of mixed race. For many years, he was somewhat neglected; recently, he has come more to the fore. He composed both light and serious music, some with African influences.

	Number 2, Andante, from the Petite Suite de Concert. Composed 1911. This highly emotional romance, Question and Answer, is perhaps the composer's best-known piece. Often performed as a light orchestral piece, or for violin and piano, but the solo piano is equally suitable.
