International Music Score Library Project [IMSLP] entry: Jean Morel (Frederic Mullen)

Jean Morel was but one of over a dozen pseudonyms used by Frederic Mullen (1868-1936), of which Gustave Lind is perhaps the best known.

'Neath Thy Lattice MIDI   salon   CD2
This is from a collection, Roses and Rue, consisting of Four Sketches for Piano. 'Neath Thy Lattice is the first and best of the four. Roses and Rue is a poem by Oscar Wilde; 'Neath thy Lattice is an 1895 song by Agnes S. Buck. The piece is headed by a quatrain: `Sleep on, and dream of heaven awhile --// Tho' shut so close thy laughing eyes,// Thy rosy lips still wear a smile// And move, and breathe delicious sighs.' which is taken from a poem Sleeping Beauty by Samuel Rogers. All a bit racy for the period!
My copy of the piece is Copyright MCMXV, by Reeder and Walsh, 14 Castle St., London W.
I've scored this for the Roland `Magical Piano', kept the notated rocking rhythm instead of sharpening it up to a [slow] tango, and added quite a lot of the pedal `at discretion'. I hope this keeps the dreamy quality of a "Sleeping Beauty". Somewhat naughtily, the LH pedalling is different from the RH. No-one will notice.
