Hugo Wolf (1860-1903) was an Austrian composer best known for his lieder (songs).

	The Gardener is a setting of a poem by Moerike, and is Anne's favourite song. Sequencing here is from the IMSLP PD version of this song, checked against the Peters edition in my own collection. A princess goes riding past the gardner, and he gets a little romantic. The words are in the MIDI version as lyric events; I wouldn't want to inflict my singing on the world, so the song is interpreted as a choir. YouTube has versions sung by Kathleen Ferrier and by Felicity Lott, if you want to know what this really should sound like. Also what the words are ...!
